False Sovereignty of God

For the Sovereignty of God people who say God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man. and for those that have been fooled by these people, please read on!

I’ve often wondered just how easily it is that some people can con others into, and be conned themselves into the false Sovereignty of God belief that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

I was recently approached by 1 such person who believes this false doctrine. I have had numerous conversations with people who believe this false doctrine, but had never really paid attention to the scriptural plastering they gave me.

As within most Christian doctrines, the approach to conversion & conviction is to plaster your potential proselyte with an overwhelming amount of scripture; so that they just go by what they’ve seen, and give in and accept whatever it is you’re shoveling or selling.

Allow me to demonstrate the scriptures used on me, in order to get me to believe that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

Job 2:10 “but he said unto her, you speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What? Will we receive good at the hand of God, and will we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips”

Proverbs 16:4 “The LORD has made all things for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil”

Isaiah 45:7 “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things”

Isaiah 54:16 “behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals in the fire, and that brings forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy"

Lamentations 3:37-38 "Who can speak and have it happen if the LORD did not decree it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both good and evil comes?"

Romans 9:21 “Does not the potter have power over the clay; of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor"

Romans 11:36 “for of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to who is glory forever. Amen"

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure"

Philippians 4:6 “be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God"

Who could handle being plastered with so many scriptures, and not just be overwhelmed into agreement? Only those who are unfamiliar with these, and so many other scriptures that at the very least prove that God does not ordain, dictate, call for, command, cause, perform, and control & bring about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

Did you notice that God actually only says 2 of these things? As I was presented with 9, I thought it only fair to respond with at least 9 of my own.

Deuteronomy 17:3 “and hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded”

Deuteronomy 18:20 “But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die”

Jeremiah 14:15 “Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed”

Jeremiah 19:5 “they have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind”

Jeremiah 23:21 “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied”

Jeremiah 23:25 “I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed”

Jeremiah 27:15 “For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that you might perish, you, and the prophets that prophesy unto you”

Jeremiah 29:9 “For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, says the LORD”

Jeremiah 29:23 “Because they have committed villainy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, says the LORD”

Ezekiel 13:6-7 “They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD said: and the LORD has not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Did you not seen a vain vision, and did you not speak a lying divination, whereas you say, The LORD said it; albeit I have not spoken?”

Micah 3:5 "Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him"

Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be”

James 1:13 “Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone”

Did you notice that 11 of these 14 verses are spoken of directly by & from God himself? From these 14 verses, it should be easy to see that God does not God ordain, dictate, call for, command, cause, perform, and control & bring about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

Allow me to close with this thought: most of the people who absolutely believe that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man, do so with absolute ignorance and have just been fooled by others; but this is not the case with all.

I have had many conversations with these False Sovereignty of God believers, where I have showed them the above 14 verses, or more; only to have them overlook them, openly deny them, or say that their own verses counter the verses I have presented. If we use one verse to “counter” another, we are in effect discrediting and/or contradicting 1 scripture with another.

I have told these believers, and those that listen to them, that the belief that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man, produces some of the most dangerous people on earth.

These people now have at the very least, the thought processes that allow them to perform any word, action, deed or thought; having already predetermined within themselves that it was God’s doing the entire time. I have no doubt that the majority of these people are decent, moral & upstanding people; but think of the atrocities that could be, are & will be committed by those who hold to the belief that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

As I also have pointed out to these people; and as I also point out to those who may read or refer to this article: there have been, are & no doubt, will be numerous people in positions of power, influence & control, which harbor this same belief.

This alleviates, absolves, justifies, condones & vindicates the believer (at least in their thoughts) of any crime, barbaric act, atrocity or acts of vengeance they can imagine or carry out. This creates & fosters the delusion that these believers need neither accept any responsibility / accountability for their actions; and that they need not express any respectability for their fellow humans.

At least the Atheist doesn’t have this excuse at their disposal; which is why I say it is these Theistic believers who are some of the most dangerous people on the planet.

I've received some responses from people who apparently are lost as to my point; why? I have no clue. But I will go a step further in attempting to explain my position in this area.

It's really simple to explain and understand from either side of the fence. I do not believe I have a thing to do with Salvation, which is God' department, not mine.

My understanding of Sovereignty is simple, a Sovereign answers to no one; they are supreme.

Freewill is easy as well. I possess the ability and am entirely free to blow my nose, scratch my ear, throw a rock or make a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner.

Those 14 verses are exact indicators of the purpose of the article; they are there to counter those who say that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

I've seen more than 200 people, personally do their level best to avoid this statement and these 14 verses.

How hard is this to admit?

If you believe God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man; then by definition, you believe God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.

There is no picking & choosing here, unless one is a Hyper-Calvinist who insists God only performs this through the elect, and the rest are left to the wind & trash-heap to fend for themselves.

Those who believe God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man, by necessity also believe that God ordains, dictates, calls for, commands, causes, performs, and controls & brings about; every murder, rape, robbery, corrupt politician and act of pedophilia.

But as is typical here; I'm usually confronted with 2 completely useless arguments.

#1) But God allowed it to happen.

#2) But God didn't prevent it from happening.

These arguments are entirely useless & wholly inadequate because they do not go to CAUSE.

A King is sovereign over his realm; does he then become the CAUSE of every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of every subject within his realm? Of course not.

Where the rubber meets the road in attempting to ascertain a person's use & definition of the Sovereignty of God, can be summed up in either a yes or no answer to a question such as this:

1 month ago, a house was broken into at about 3:00 AM; and a sleeping child was molested & killed by an intruder. Did God cause this to happen?

Those who believe in the FALSE Sovereignty of God will say yes; even if it takes some arm wrestling to get it out of them.

As written above, I believe those who would answer yes to such questions, are some of the most dangerous people on the planet. They accept neither accountability nor responsibility for their thoughts/actions, but are entirely justified in anything they can imagine or do; because after all, it was really God causing it all to happen.

As is typical when one is confronted with evidence contrary to their beliefs, not one of these 200+ people has ever addressed the 14 verses I have given to clearly demonstrate that God DOES NOT ordain, dictate, call for, command, cause, perform, and control & bring about; every word, action, deed, thought, decision and/or response of man.
